  1. POOR THING DO NOT PRESSURE HIM HE STILL SMALL WAIT TIL HE IS 24 MONTHS ... FOR NOW GET SOME TOYS LIKE BABIES EINSTEIN OR LEAP FROGS THIS R COLOR-FULL LEARNING GAMES FIND SOME AT TOYSRUS.....  IF U DO NOT HAVE IT NEAR YOU GO TOYSRUS.COM U WILL C THE STUFF FOR 18MONTHS OLD BABIES GOD LUCK!!!

  2. You should first teach your child your native language and then teach him english. It will work better this way, he can speak his native tounge and English.

  3. Children are like sponges, and will learn a lot easier than you think.

Let her master the language you will be speaking at home, then teach him the essentials in english 'mum', 'dad', 'milk', food' etc. and she will learn an awful lot naturally due to her young mind. xx

  4. You could try to teach him American Sign Language (ASL).  Babies develop motor control before they can talk.  Signing Time is a great series for this.  Rachel Coleman, her deaf daughter Leah, and Leah's hearing cousin Alex help children develop ASL vocabulary in a fun way.  They also have a sister series called Baby Signing Time, which is structured differently.  It is more engaging for young children.  All of these will help your child in language and may boost their IQ (Intelligence Quotient) scores.

Sorry that's it's long, I just wanted to help!  Signing Time is a GREAT series, and NO child should be denied it.  Any child, no matter what their abilities can use it to learn sign language vocabulary.  I hope you consider my advice and choose Signing Time for your child.  You do not need to buy Signing Time to watch it if it's on PBS where you live.  Otherwise, you will probably need to buy the DVDs to watch it.  It will NOT delay your child's speech (contrary to popular belief), and you will not regret it!

  5. definitely no baby talk.

    start off with the basics

    dad

    mom

    water

    milk

    food

    poo

    pee

speak english to him only.  My mother hired an English speaking nanny.

    read english books.

get some english dvd's.  Barney and Elmo.

  6. ball

    beep beep

    car

    ba-ba (for sheep)

    moo-moo (cow)

    up

    wee

    go

    mommy

    daddy

    cookie

are some good words-same words you would use inyour first language---

Baby Einstein and Baby BumbleBee videos are good

they show a picture and label it and use it in context.

  7. Wait until your child is two years old before trying to teach him english. If another language is the main language in your house, then use that to talk to him. Once he is two have your son go to a preschool/daycare or take some classes in music or dance or baby gym where he is with other english speaking children and an english speaking teacher. He will develop both languages better this way.

Also make sure you read books to your son in your native language and have some in english as well. It is important for him to be able to read, write, and speak in BOTH languages!
