Baby turtle?

Ok so my friend found a baby snapping turtle and me and my room mate are thinking about keeping it as a pet..

Number one: do you think it would survive if we kept it?

and

Number two: if you think it will survive then what should i feed it lol =]

  1. No, I do not think it would survive. They are a difficult pet for a beginner.


  2. If you live in the US, the baby is federally protected by law, and you could be fined for having it.

    Adult snapping turtles can be quite dangerous, and do NOT make good "dorm" pets.

    The animal will outlive both of you.  Are you prepared for that kind of commitment?

    It's cute now - but give it a couple of years.  That WILL change.

    You obviously have no idea what you're trying to get into, and that's an injustice to the animal in SO many ways.

    It will be HUGE, and you will need to protect area cats, dogs, and children from it, in it's outdoor pond (unless you plan to turn a room of your home into an aquarium/pond for it?

    Get over the "cuteness;" get over the impulse; be realistic, and release it back where it was found.
