Baby wasn't really moving?

Ok so a couple weeks ago we went in for our 12 week ultrasound....the baby looked healthy and good size and nice strong heartbeat....158. Well it didn't move at all.....it moved its hand in the very beginning and then flipped sides while I was going to the bathroom but other then that he/she didn't move (a couple deep breaths) they had a really hard time measuring the back of the neck (it was a down syndrome test) they were jiggling my belly alot and everything. They finally got the measurement when the baby took a deep breath and arched its back a bit....

Well anyways....i didn't think anything of it until I as talking and reading about other women's 12 week ultrasound and most all of them said their babies were moving around like crazy! and the that tech had a hard time keeping up with them! Is it bad that my baby wasn't moving at all?? It was probably a 20-25min ultrasound....

  1. I remember this test and hated it cause I'm high risk. So my baby wasn't moving and he is normally active. The doc shook my tummy and  all still nothing so then i had to drink water. so when i go for testing I always drink cold cold cold water and or a caffeine drink. Today I had a non-stress test and the baby wasn't being active so i was drinking water and that didn't even get him up. so the nurse brought me a diet soda and he woke up.  so again this is normal and they sleep in times when you get more along you will see that your baby sleeps at times and awake at other. gl......

  2. Sounds like my boy lol! tristan is the most uncooperative baby in the womb I've seen. And at 12 weeks some babies are hardly moving at all yet. And some tend to relax more when you are laying down. At 10 weeks they did an ultrasound on my best friend and hers merely twitched a hand for a fifteen minute ultrasound and that was it. Even now when I go in for my ultrasounds (I get them every three weeks due to being high risk) he sometimes moves too much or too little. As long as the heartbeat is good, and 158 is good and normal, he/she should be just fine!

At 21wks I went to labor and delivery because I didn't feel him move and they said they don't worry about movement until week 24 because that's when they are big enough/ old enough to be super active. For now they do a lot of resting until they get bigger and stronger. trust me before long you will be feeling little twitches and pokes all the time :D

If it scares you call up your OB and ask. :D That's what theyre job is, though they probably hate me at this point. Good luck!

  3. I think its probably b/c you did not eat when you went in for your ultrasound.. The thec should have given you something sweet to drink that would really make the baby move.

B/c this happened to my sis and her doc gave her some crackers and juice which really helped in making the baby move..So next time you go in for your ultrasound make sure you drink/ eat..Besides

158 is a excellent heartbeat..your baby is fine..just a little sleepy, since it was probably starving.

Edit: I was not trying to be harsh, you did not mention that you ate or not during your ultrasound..so how would i know???? I was trying to help..but jezz..if yo uwanna give me a tumbs down..go ahead..but i was not being harsh..some woman forget to eat and that is wh y their baby does not move as fast..

  4. baby could have been asleep

  5. Your baby was sleeping. Mine did that throughout my 4D ultrasound. He yawned and looked bored but slept through the thing. He is very stubborn!
