my 4 month old usually feels warm and i take his temp rectally and sometimes it ranges from 100.2 to 100.8. Is this normal, My ped said he could have started teething, and its not a temp unless it is over 100.4 and if its below 101 i should not worry about it, I am really worried, and sometimes my house is 79 degrees do you guys think this can cause his body temp to go up like that due to the temp in the house? I am so confused and worried I have an appt next week with my ped.

  1. stay out of the baby's a**s!!   don't bundle the babe and relax.  worry when the temp is 102.9 or higher.  make an appointment with the pediatrician for education and get some counseling.

  2. Most babies body temps are a bit higher than ours.  I know when I was a child (my mother tells me) my normal temp was about 99.5 degrees.  If your son is teething that could cause the temp too.  If you ped says not to worry, I wouldn't.  I'm sure he's fine.  Good luck!

  3. This is in the normal range for a baby's rectal temp. A rectal temp is normally higher than a oral. The temp your doctor gave you as normal is correct for a temporal scanner, and oral temp, and a tempanic (EAR) temp, but the number would be an average of at least 1 degree HIGHER for a rectal.

    Now-STAY OUT OF HIS a**s!

Rectal temps are needed sometimes, but understand this: According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, they are to be avoided due the the much higher risk of perforating the colon. If this happens, it can cause permanent and life threatening problems.

  4. your house is a little warm and what you could do is dress him just a 1z
