My 9 month old daughter. Has been on antibiotics for an ear infection for about a week. I think she has developed a yeast infection from the meds. What can I do for her with out taking her to the doctor ? Should I go ahead and take her. We go back next Wednesday for a recheck on her ears.

  1. call your insurance provider and see if they have an on call nurse you can speak to, if not see the dr...babies are delicate and you dont want it to get worse by waiting

  2. You need to take her now and not wait till next week.   A yeast infection can cause serious problems in females if not treated.  Call her doctor and let him know what you think she has you never know he may just offer a treatment over the phone.  Good luck.

  3. If you suspect a yeast infection, you should take her back to the doctor; or at least call him/her and explain the situation. Maybe something can be suggested or prescribed over the phone. Good luck.

    Update:

I am so glad that you will be getting something for the baby tomorrow. In the meantime, just keep the baby clean and dry. Do not give her a warm bath if she has a rash from the infection; just give a cool sponge bath. You just have one night to get through before getting her meds - just hold her if that's what she wants. There's not too much more that you can do. I'm sure that she will be fine within 24 of getting her medication. And  BTW - You're a very good mom. Best of luck to you both.

  4. Don't make her wait a whole extra week in itchiness and misery.  Take her in as soon as you can get her seen.  How would you feel if it were you?

  5. If your doctor oks it, you can use lotrimin or monistat on your baby. You should just call your advice nurse and check with her first.
