My 1yr old is going twice a week, 3 hours at a time, to a day home for 6 weeks, in order to prepare her for going 4 days a week in September. My problem is she won't eat or drink at the day home. Have any of you experienced this and what did you do to solve it?

  1. i had a similar problem, but my son would only eat or drink in the car!

we didn't really notice what was going on, until one day, we didn't go out. his sandwich, crisps, drink all stayed untouched on his little table. he was standing at the door gate saying car. car.

we put his car seat in the house and that fooled him for a bit!

try taking her plate or sippy that she is familiar with.

also, when she is there full time, she might well eat when other kids eat. they do tend to copy each other

  2. 3 hours is a reasonable amount of time for a 1 year old to go without food.  Perhaps if you are feeding her right before she goes and again when she gets home then she is simply not hungry while there.  It would be nice if she would take some liquids though.  As long as she is in a loving place and getting attention from the caregiver than she will settle in sooner or later.  In the meantime maybe try giving her favorite juice or chocolate milk to help it along a little.

  3. okay 1st of all you should let the baby feel comfortable at the day home then the baby well ese into it wile the  baby is slepping you should stick the boddle in their mouth and the baby will drink. had the problem wile baby sitting
