Babys swings.... What direction is best?

I pretty sure most babies like side-to-side.  Its supposed to be calming. The rain forest one is a good choice.

I don't think any direction is better than the other. I had a swing that went both ways. The baby liked to go sideways in the begining..it would always put her to sleep. As she got older she liked going back and forth.

Well, my son never even used the swing we got, he hated it. The most he was in it was 5 min!

Anyways, I noticed at my son's daycare that the bigger infants were able to still sit in the 2nd type you have listed. They have both types at daycare and only the smaller children use the 1st type; so if I had to help you choose one, I would say to go for the 2nd type.

I would say the second one because it is similar to how you will rock your baby in a rocking chair so both motion will be assimilated with soothing even when the baby is in the swing and not being held.

I would buy one that swings both ways, that way the baby will tell you which way they like.. :-)

we have the first one, only not the rainforest, its the natures touch. and my daughter loves it. shes 8 months and still sleeps in it sometmes. and it swings 2 ways, side to side and front to back

Both of my girls (twins) loved the rainforest one and hated the one that swung back and forth!!

I would probably say the Rainforest one.

We bought the Graco SweetPeace one for my daughter, and she loves it.

i'm sure either would be fine. I also have to recommend the swing i have for my daughter. IF you're getting a Graco infant car seat you should consider this swing:

It's so awesome!! you just attach the infant car seat to the frame, turn the power on, and your baby swings away!! the best part is that it's portable -- you can  bring it anywhere.  And it's cheaper than most swings. It's the best thing I bought my baby. And because your baby is sitting in the infant car seat it's much safer than other swings.

i'm sure your baby will love whatever swing you buy though.
