Babyshower help!!?

I'm co-hosting a babyshower, and planning on the theme being birds/flowers. Any ideas what to use/make for the centerpiece, and other decorations? We obviously would like bird nests of some sort, but how would we go about making them, and what to put in them, etc. Any suggestions!?

  1. Centerpieces are grand to make.  Best ones involve something useful that is pretty for the party.  My suggestion, a good diaper cake.  Here a link with instructions.

It is n't diffult, and it doesn't have to be followed strictly.  You said you want birds nests and things like that.  Just like a wedding cake, a diaper cake can be customized however you want to.  Just make sure to get things that would be properly proportionate to the size of the cake you make.

Get some help from a few friends.  A few extra hands always makes it easier.

  2. What about hanging a clothes line with some bay outfits and onsies on it along the walls for decorations? Or What about making diaper cakes for each table. Add washcloths that have little ducks or flowers on them Then your friend can take them with her after the shower as another gift.

  3. I'm not sure if you can find the eggs or peeps, but what about this idea: http://www.kinderart.com/kitchen/birdsne...  I made them with my kids for easter

  4. Well what to put in the bird's nest? It isn't Easter so you can't find any candy eggs.. So maybe some other chocolate for the guests?  And for the flowers you can put some flowers in mason jars. They make pretty center pieces.

  5. How about using grape vine wreaths laid flat on the tables, fill with plastic Easter grass, then fill with several small bottles of baby supplies that will be useful for the mother to be. Such as baby powder, shampoo, diaper creme, bath soap or oil. Then maybe get some imitation birds at a craft store to set on the edges of the nests.

You could also use rolled up infant socks with a rubber band tied around them for eggs in the nests.  And maybe some nursery rhyme tapes or CD's.

You could take small nut cups and glue the outsides and roll in artificial grass, fill with the candied almonds or jelly beans for the eggs.

You could also make an X on the bottom of one of the nut cups for a door prize game.

You could also give each person a recipe card as they come in the door and have them write down a baby care tip.  And then have them read out loud during the party for some entertainment.  Ahead of time punch a couple of holes on one side and you could tie them all together for a tip book for the mother to be and she could have something to remember the people who came to the party.

These are just some ideas for you.

  6. I think they sell birds nests at craft stores in the floral section...they also sell what are called mushroom birds.

  7. for the centerpiece i would get a large and somewhat shallow (maybe three inches high) bowl. it should be clear, or clear with a color tint. fill it with little rocks. then take little fake birds [which you can buy or make] and attach a strong wire to the bottom of the bowl and also to your bird. do that for multiple birds. also get fake flowers and put them in an outer circle around the bowl. in face, it would be really cool if you wanted to put flowers in a circle inside the bowl but around the rim. then use birds that are elevated about 5 inches for the middle, but use two birds on two ends of the bowl and elevate them 10 inches. since they are on opposite sides of the bowl you can use a ribbon and attach the ends of it to each of the large birds beaks. write "it's a boy" or whatever on the ribbon :)
