  1. ask them what they like to do, and do it with them, or have them watch a movie, or do an activity of some sort like playdough or make fathers day cards or something.

  2. paint, My kids loved to paint on rocks- (good gift for dad?a paper weight)

Do they like to throw a ball? Two square?

    Lawn games-

walk the dog, nature hunt- find interesting things. make a nature collage?

I spy books, puzzles, "Amazing wierd things" books,

  3. Legos, Transformers, play catch with a baseball and gloves, movie, read them some books, Monopoly, Life, Uno,.

I have two 8 yr. olds and we do all this stuff.

  4. have them create something for their father for father's day on sunday.

  5. Popcorn with a movie, or puzzle. Or both. Put a movie they like on and get a puzzle to play while it's on in the background.

  6. you can rent some DVD's for them to watch or play video games with them.

You can also get some board games to play with them or something like Twister to keep them active.

Make pizza's with them and let them make their own pizza.

  7. -I have a 9 yr old and some things I do that he and his friends have enjoyed for a few years and still ask me to do are:

-a scavenger hunt. Its easy and takes them time to finish. you can have them work together or seperate against eachother. (I suggest working together so there is no competition and hard feelings) Write a list of things they need to find, both inside and out if you'd like.

      *Such as:  -find something yellow

                         -something brown

-a stick the size of your arm

                         -a white rock

                         -2 pieces of trash

                         -something metal

    etc. etc....

you can come up with many more items they need to find but this is a very fun thing for kids to do.

-something we call "a game-maze"  I set up different stations throughout the house or outside that I lead them to and each one has something different to do. I use things that I already have or can find at home to make each station. Some ideas for stations  I've used to complete the maze are:

-have a bucket or something that they can throw balls or something into and see how many they can get in.

-use water bottles or something similar and set them up then give each player 3 rings or something that they can throw and try to ring around a bottle and see how many they can get.

-use masking tape and make a tic tac toe board on the ground then give each boy 3 bean bags or i have used bags of  fruit snacks before too and see if they can get 3 in a row by tossing them onto the tic tac toe board.

-set up cans of soup or something lighter if you wish, as you would bowling pins and then give them a ball to see how many they can knock down like you would if you were bowling.

-get a jar and some clothes pins. have them kneel on a chair with the jar out  in front of the chair and see how many they can drop into the jar while keeping their hand level with the top of the chair.

-you could make a coin toss too. have like 5 plastic or paper cups and set them up having each one be worth a certain amount of points and then have them toss coins in the cups to see how many points they can get.

-the idea is to make up fun and easy games and go from station to station with them explaining each game and maybe giving them candy at each one or a sticker, or not giving anything at all but just have fun playing the games.

I hope these sound like fun to you and that you are able to use something from this long list of things to do. :-)
