  1. Take some cleaners, and scrub the heck out of it...Before it starts to get dry!

  2. The very best thing that you can do is take a bucket of mildy soapy water and some rags. Dampen the spot (don't scrub it because that can actually make it worse by making the carpet fibers frizzy) and then use a second rag to take up the water from the carpet.

Make sure you keep that spot damp!! You might not be able to clean it up so the adults can't tell, but you can possibly keep it from setting so they can get it back out.

I would also not recommend using bleach as while it can help get the red out, it might also turn the carpet yellow as nylon and bleach don't mix.

  3. First, check for carpet cleaner and the marker container to see if it's washable.  Most washable markers come out without much trouble using just basic carpet cleaner.  But, if the marker does not say washable it might be tough to get out.  If the carpet is WHITE, you can use diluted bleach.  Mix about 1 part bleach with 2 parts water and then rinse it out well.  If the marker is not washable and the carpet is not white or close to it, you are not going to be able to get all remnents of the stain out.  Expensive artist's markers actually dye the paper and will dye the carpet instantly.  You can still try the bleach, but it might show a lighter spot where you applied the bleach so dilute it more and Good Luck!!
