Babysitting... HELP?

Question

I am going over to babysit these two kids and they are 8 & 4

The 8 year old tries to kill the 4 year old... which he can't

but he pins her down until she cries... what should I do....

The mom already knows and they just keep doing it...

Any ideas about what we could do today?

Preferably inside cause it's rainy outside!

Wow!! I would try to keep them seprated. I can't believe that the mom knows and he is still trying to do that. I wonder if you could try and take something away from him that he likes each time he pins his sister down. I would also try to keep a real close eye on her if not spend your time with her like playing games or playing with dolls. Good Luck

the 8 year old is probably trying to get your attention by pinning down the four year old. why dont you try and focus your attention on the eight year old for a day.

When they start to do that pull him off and put him in a corner and tell him that until he says sorry  he will sit in the corner.Then take the four year old and give her a chance to watch tv or something else and tell him he could do what she's doing when he says he sorry.

Play some board games, or find a recipe to make playdough..thats always fun

well, why don't you put the 8 year old an a time out if he misbehaves? unless you are physically unable to, then try to find 2 separate games for each one to play. focus your attention on one, then go to the other one. remember to put the kids in two different rooms. you can play cards or a board game with the 8 year old, and color or watch a movie with the 4 year old. or...you can bake cookies with both of them (IF they're behaving), and threaten to not give the 8 year old cookies if he pins down his sister. i hope this helps! :) good luck
