OK! So im 13 and im babysitting my neighbors three grandchildren (11,8,and 7) and the 8 year old is a boy the rest are girls. Today they had some chores to do and the boy refused. He was saying that he didnt know about these chores ( i dont think he did) but he still refused to help out! I was very firm with him and he even refused to get off of the computer so i manually turned off the computer and he turned it back on. His older sister even came in and yelled at him to get up and help. Nothing. We told his Grandmother and she talked to him about it but he was still being a little stuborn. Im supposed to be babysitting them on Wednsday again and I was wondering what i should do if this happends again.

Thanks for who answers!! =D

  1. Make the chores a game.

  2. Talk to his grandma to see what type of discipline is used when he misbehaves and use the same discipline.

If he isnt disciplined, you can let him know that when you are in charge you have certain rules and if he doesn't follow the rules there will be consequences.  Tell him before hand what the consequences will be (e.g. if he is supposed to help with chores and plays on the computer instead he must sit on the floor in a corner facing the corner for a minimum of one half-hour.  If he gets up or turns around he must spend 5 minutes more for each time he does it.  I would recommend this type of time out instead of being sent to his room, which might not be a punishment because there might be toys, or books or video games there so it wouldn't be a punishment.  Whatever punishment you dole out it needs to fit the "crime".

You need to be firm with him and make sure he knows you are in charge.

    Good luck!
