Babysitting Question? What should I charge?

I babysit a girl 50 hours a week, and sometimes even more a week, and I am not sure what to charge? We live in California, in an apartment, and we arnt liscenced either, so that can take some money off, but I dont know what to charge, I also fix her meals, and take good care of her. Someone help me out?

While in college in Los Angeles, i was paid $7 an hour by one family to babysit their 8 year old daughter, and $8 an hour by another. This was 10 years ago. For one on one child care, I think $10/hr is reasonable for the first 40 hours and then time and a half for the balance of 10 hours at $15, for a total of $550/week. That seems reasonable especially considering minimum wage is $8 so it might be illegal for them to pay anything less than that unless done illegally where you're not paying taxes and declaring your wages to the government which you should be doing.

I don't know, 50 hours a week is ALOT!

I'd charge her $8.00 per hour.

8x50= 400

Considering you live in CA. you feed her, and you do it at your house.

$7 an hour? that's about $350 or more  a week

i think for each hour you should charge $6-8. thats how much i charge and i live in CA too.

well....you could get in some trouble  without being licensed and it depends on how old the kid is if  the kid is only 1 or 2 and is in diapers you should charge more. But if its 5-8 not to expensive and not to cheap like a happy medium. But also if  u r running the kid around to like sports or other activities charge more cause the cost of gas.I'm only 13 and i babysit a 5 year old and i get 5dollars an hour  but that's every so often.
