Question:

Babysitting Question about Food?

Do you know what I can to with the kids I babysit. I watch three boys: 9,8, and 7 and I was wondering what kinds of foods I could make with them. Like a special treat.

But I cannot make: Cookies, Brownies, Cakes, or Nachos.

Please help, I would like to get them involved too!

Thanks in advance!

  1. When I've given birthday parties for my kids, we let the kids make themselves little homemade pizzas.  It keeps them busy for a few minutes, and doesn't make too big of a mess, and when they are finished they have a yummy treat.

For the bread use either bagels or english muffins and let them put on whatever toppings they like: tomato sauce, cheese, pepperoni, veggies, etc.  Bake for about 10 minutes (pre-cook any meat), and they are ready to eat.

    Hope this helps.

  2. You sound like a very sweet girl - no pun intended.  =)

First, I would check with their parents to make sure it's OK for them to have treats.  If it is, try rice krispie treats.  They're very easy to make and at least have a tiny bit of nutritional value that the boys won't notice.

  3. Hot dogs

or do a stick meal with chicken. veggies on a stick they can dunk in dressing

  4. rice crispies

  5. celery with peanut butter and raisins (ants on a log)

Jell-o is always a hit, are you allowed to do that? I like to put banana slices in strawberry jell-o

do you have an ice cream maker? you can make a sorbet, which is fruit based and uses no dairy.

Apple slices with caramel are good too!!

  6. Check out the Kraft web site they have lots of fun nutritious foods for kids and I have found that my kids love them and they are quite simple to prepare as well.
