Question:

Babysitting business/job - Sydney, Australia?

Hi all,

I'm a 16 yr old, and want to babysit kids in my local area in my school holidays. Is this possible? Do I need any qualifications, etc.?

Would parents trust leaving their children with me?

Any suggestions on how to get started?

- How to advertise? Posters, etc..

- How much to charge?

Thanks in advance,

nemo

  1. Hello clown fish,

I think you need to be a registered childcare worker in Australia to be handling kids legally speaking. Childcare workers are on minimum wages but if you do get some work coming your way as a cash only word of mouth business i'd say about around AUD 8-9 an hour sounds reasonable! Ask people who know your family and act responsible in front of them. Most people are looking for some reliable inexpensive help with kids. Be prepared to work weekends and that should set you up! Good luck! I have to say i do envy you! I've been to Sydney and it's the most beautiful city on earth!
