Question:

Babysitting crafts?

Ok, in a few days I'm watching an 11 year old, a 9 year old, and a 4 year old. The girls are into little girl stuff, like princesses and stuffed animals. The older one, a boy, is into sports and stuff, but he would probably just be happy with baking clay (which, by the way, the girls go through like crazy!)

I always bring a craft when I babysit, but I have no ideas this time! Anyone have any EASY age appropriate ones you've already tried? Just tell me what they are or a description and I'll Google it or something. Thanks! :-)

  1. How about shrinky dinks? Fun for all ages!

    shrinkydinks.com

  2. I don't have any particulare crafts to suggest, but I've got a great website. www.familyfun.com Tons of crafts to search and you can narrow it down by age group and interests.

  3. Try scrapbooking with them!   Take pictures (or let the kids take them) and get them developed using a 1-hour service.  Then let the kids make their own scrapbooks.  (If you do a search for "minibooks" you should be able to find lots of info, including directions for making easy albums for kids; you might want to tack on the word "scrapbooking" too).

You can find materials at any craft store, although that age should be happy with stickers and construction paper you can get at Walmart (although Walmart does have a scrapbooking section).  Let the kids help pick out papers, stickers, etc. while you wait for the pictures to be developed.

And lest you (or your charges) think scrapbooking is a "girly" craft, many men and definitely lots of boys love it! :)  However, if he is not interested in using pictures of he and his sisters/pets/etc. what about making a small book of his favorite sports team?  Some other hobby he enjoys?

    Good luck!

    HTH!

  4. try getting some leaves in the fall and iron them on a piece of wax paper, go to walmart and get this faom animals and make a necklace, you can also try marroin tooto make a necklace with that ,also make turtles  with paper plates and let the children paint them and make feet and the turtle's shell

  5. Have you tried making pot holders?  It's really easy with a plastic frame and loops.  Knitting and Crochet are pretty easy as well, a really large hook might help the 4 year old, or you could simply have the youngest roll balls of yarn.

There are also websites full of crafts that kids can do!
