Babysitting four young kids?

Question

next thursday im babysitting 11 y/o Mady, 6 y/o Logan, 4 y/o Miranda, and 2 y/o Kennedy for a couple hours, i have never babysat them before, mady is a big help and is a friend, and logan likes me, miranda is content with me but not to sure, and kennedy is really uncomfortable with me as i have known them since she was little but lately they have been with their mother not their dad so i was wondering if anybody had ANY ideas on how to get her more comfortable with me? i have watched them before but not whle their parents were out, like they'd be downstairs and i'd watch them upstairs during a party or sumthin, but now its for real their dad has to go to work for a few hours and their mom went away, what i mean by she is uncomfortable with me, is she gets REALLY shy while im their but once im gone she tells mady she loves me! and if i ask her if i can pick her up (as she is just so pickupable) she ponders the thought for a few momments looks at me and then with attitude "no!" im 13 1/2

bring a special treat for them-

like stickers or lollipops

(something small)

If you bring something small with you that is different, it will be new and fun to the kids....they know what kind of toys are around their house, but when their friend comes to watch them, they can always expect a new surprise!

I'd be going bonkers with 4 youngsters to look after!  You must really be a mature 13 1/2 year old!

Kennedy is in the "terrible twos" and can be very difficult.  The fact that you recognize her reluctance to bond with you indicates your maturity.  She will come around!

I know folks who would pay lots for a babysitter like you!

give it time. when your watching the kids make an extra effort to play with them and be around them. eventually they will warm up to you.

try to do something she likes with her, show her that you guys have something in common. she'll warm up to you

just play games with them and connect with them,

and if its okay with their paretns make them some sundaes, the kids i babysit love it when i make sundaes
