Question:

Babysitting ideas for 5 and 6 year old girls? Tips from parents or experienced babysitters highly appreciated!

Im 13 years old and will be babysitting tomorrow night from 7pm to 1am. What should I do with the kids to keep them entertained, and, if your a parent, what time would you want your children to go to sleep? I dont mind having the girls stay up until their parents get home, but I doubt their parents would be very happy! What would be a good time to have them go to bed?

I know that one of the girls (the 5 year old) is a little bit of a tomboy, but the other(the 6 year old) is very girly. Im babysitting at their house, so what should I bring?

Thank you so much!

  1. i would put them to bed at like 10:30

and as too entertain them i would just do what they wanna do.

and you could color and play dress up if they are into that kinda stuff.

  2. play a game of dress up

  3. The parents will tell you when the girls need to go to bed. Do NOT let them stay up late and don't let them push you to do things. Ask the parents what the routine's like, if they're allowed to get up for water, etc, whether the door stays open or closed, lights on/off, etc. Kids will try to push the limits BIG time with a first sitter--especially one as young as you are. Bring a board game that is unusual that the kids can play with you, or a G rated movie that they may not have seen, or some new coloring books. If you're not getting there until 7, chances are, the kids will only be awake for an hour or two.

  4. Do some pedicures.

    Ask the parents about bedtime.

    Make some non-bake cookies - oatmeal/peanutbutter/etc...

    popcorn&movie

  5. Ask the parents what time they want their kids to go to bed.  Bring arts and crafts, play board games, paint their toes, have a talent show, watch a movie, bake cookies.
