Babysitting job: Am I getting payed really cheap?

I babysitt 3 really insane boys. 1 is around 6 years old. 1 is around 11. The other is 13, but he has down syndrome. They're really perverted and sometimes run around naked or throw dirty underwear in your face. I babysat the other night from 7pm to 11pm with my friend. The mom only payed ME, 18 dollars. Am I getting the WRONG amount? I think I am. I don't know what to say to the mom. What sohuld I do?

You are being underpaid, and taken advantage of. Minimum wage is $7/hr(at least it is in New York State). You should charge at least that. If the mom complains, tell her that is the national minimum amount.

Also, they are acting very inappropriately around you. You definitely need to mention it to their mother, and set some ground rules/boundaries.

While the 13 year old may have some excuse for his behavior, (although I teach children with Downs, and they can be expected to act better than that!) there is no excuse for the 11 year old. Explain to their mother that this is unacceptable, and unless it changes you don't feel comfortable babysitting them.

Finally, your parents may need to step in and say something. I wouldn't want my daughter to be exposed to that.

It sounds like they are a real handful, and the mother wouldn't want to see you walk, so...stay firm, and demand respect and proper wages!

Yeah! You should charge at least $10/hr for them!

Talk to the mom about it and try to negotiate.. if she doesn't i would quit.

I don't know how much your should get payed but $18 is not enough.

Maybe you should tell the mom you think its unfair.

If she doesn't pay you more, I think your should quit.

Also, talk to her about their behavior. They should not act like that.

yes u should charge like $5/an hour that is a normal ..average price or even $6/an hour
