Babysitting pay?-10 pts?

Question

Ok so on Saturday I am going to be babysitting 3 kids;2 girls, 1 boy.

The boy is 5, and one girl is 2 almost 3, and the oldest girl is 7.

I am babysitting them in rural wisconsin.

Is 5.00$ an hour reasonable amount of pay for 6 hours of babysitting from 5pm-11pm-ish?

This is what they offered me, its also my 1st time babysitting if that makes a difference. I'm in highschool.

It depends on when you will be babysitting. Will it be late in the evening, like when they are all sleeping and you really wont have to do that much? Or is it afternoon/evening so you will have to make sure they are fed and bathed? Either way I would say 40 minimum. I can remember how awkward it was to ask for more money when babysitting. If you will take 30 i would just tell them hey 30 is ok, but i was thinking about buying a ....do you think you can give me 40 instead? or say i am trying to save up my money, is there anything else around the house that you need me to do for a little bit extra? Then they will probably feel bad for cheating you and give you the extra anyway. Or tell you to wash the dishes, or do some laundry, no big deal for extra money right?

It really depends on where you are, but my cousin in rural Wisconsin started out making $5 an hour. Your not getting ripped off or over payed. Five dollars is common in rural Iowa where I live too.

Have Fun! Take them outside at five and have them burn off a ton of energy so that around 7-8 you can get them in their PJ's and have them lay down and watch a movie.

Parents will love you and hire you again if you have the kids help you pick up the toys and you wash the dishes, wipe off counter, etc. After the kids are asleep.

That sounds like a reasonable amount.  A little pricey on their side, but take it and run with it.

if it were me id ask alot more. expecially for that number of kids. around here youd get anywhere from 7-14 depending on different things.

This seems like a reasonable amount, considering how long your babysitting and how many kids your watching.

BABYSITTING TIPS:

Bring games, cards, paper and crayons.

Ask the older girl to be your "helper" so that way she might have a better time too, rather than just tagging along and playing "little kid" games.

Clean up a bit after dinner. The parents will appreciate it beyond belief, trust me!

If the games and fun are dwindling, pop a movie in. It works like a charm!!
