I am 11 years old. I am on my moms account. I am taking a babysitting class this july. I was wondering, how much should I charge when I do start babysitting. $7 and hour?? I don't know. I asked my mom, but she said that the prices are probably different than when she was a babysitter. Should I go with different prices for different age groups? I know day cares do that most of the time, but should I? Thanx if you answer!

  1. I'm 19, so I haven't babysat for a while, but I found it always just depended on the family.  They would just pay me at the end of the night, and I thought it would've been kind of awkward to say "Ummm, actually I charge ___dollars an hour, and you owe me 5 more bucks."  But whenever I babysat for the same family all summer, I got paid 6-7 dollars an hour (that was for 2 kids, ages 7 and 10).

  2. It depends where you live. I suggest asking around your school or ask someone local to you.

  3. you cant charge people like a daycare. because its not a daycare. people will probably only pay you about around ten dollars a day.

  4. I wouldn't charge more than $3/hour.  Day cares charge more b/c they are a business with certified personnel.  When I would babysit for a summer job, I was paid $60/week and I kept two kids Monday - Friday....

  5. I would say 5$s an hour and after you baby sit the child for a day if its a bad kid charge more if its a good kid than charge less tell the adult that you think the child is a hand full and that you will need to be payed more to put up with it. Thats what I did I had 3 kids 5 6 and 7 and I racked up quite a bit. one was good one was HORRIBLE and one I didnt even charge for because she was so good.

  6. im a mom of 3 and i wouldnt pay a sitter more than $10/hr.

  7. Since you are only 11 and are just starting do $5 per hour and start with the older kids.

    Good luck

  8. $7 an hour is a little steep...I think it depends on what part of the US you live in.  I am in Wisconsin...and generally we pay our babysitter $5 an hour...but we have 3 kids.  So about $2.00-$3.00 an hour depending...

  9. When I babysat I made $5 an hour, but that was for two children, one infant and one 6 year old.

When I was a little older (22 years old) I made $10 an hour, but I was watching a child with special needs.

  10. I got paid $2.50 an hour for the first child and a dollar more an hour for each additional child.
