  1. nothing. My mom never paid me to babysit my brother. They are sending u on a thousand dollar trip to Washington. Sit for people around yur neightborhood. ask for like 2 dollars and hour.

  2. Oh - siblings.  That's a lot more difficult.  Most parents I know don't pay their children to watch the others and because you mentioned the trip to DC yourself I'm assuming you (and your parents) likely think that's your payment for the summer work.

Maybe you could negotiate something small, but it likely won't be the equivalent of what you'd charge others.  They are your parents and they've already spent a lot of money on the trip.  Something like 5$/day would be reasonable.  Talk to your parents and see what they're willing to pay...

If you could arrange to babysit other kids in the summer at the same time you could probably get to that computer faster.  I mean, you're already babysitting, right?  What's one more kid?

See if your mom or dad have friends or coworkers with kids.  It might be nice if someone was looking for someone to supervise their children who are close to your sister's age.  I was less likely to rebel or act up around other kids my age - I didn't want to make a fool of myself.  They also tend to amuse themselves better.

Oh - PS, I wouldn't recommend a gateway.  My sister bought one firstyear university and a couple letters fell off the first month in, the 'd' key stopped working shortly after and a week later the whole keyboard popped off.  It was cheaply made.  And it wasn't my sister's fault.  She's a lot gentler with computers than I am - she's had her Mac for 3 years now without any problems.  I have an Acer, which I adore.

  3. like about $10.00 an hour

  4. The trip to Washington D.C. is probably your payment for babysitting.  (It would have been mine.)  If you are lucky enough to still be paid for babysitting, then I think $10.00 a day would be more than enough for an 11 year old.  Most states would consider her old enough to stay home alone.

  5. ummm like $3 an hour but they did pay a lot of money for your DC trip.

  6. I would take a look at how much rent they charge you each month to live in their house, and how much they charge you for the groceries and other utilities, and if you pay when you all go out to dinner, and take that into consideration when you are thinking about how much to charge them to babysit.

Oh, they don't make you pay for any of that? Hmmm....guess that's something to think about then....

  7. Maybe like, $25 a week.. Because its your sibling it makes things easier to do and because shes 11 she can do things on her own so you don't have to do too much with her but cook and entertain her some.. so idk, talk to them, maybe they know already..
