i'm going to be babysitting a 5 yr old girl, for about 8 hours a day, and i'm not sure how to keep activities that long, I've babysat her for a few hours here and there, but she seems to do everything in 10min, then ask me for more stuff to do, any ideas on how to keep her busy for that long? What type of stuff can I do as a whole day activity?

thanks.

  1. frist how old are you to get known how to do what does she need

IM me or E-mail me so i can exeplian to you

  2. Please don't email that guy....it sounds creepy.....Depending on what there is to do around her house....color, do some easy crafts, there are books on this in the library, read to her, play school, have an exercise or jazzercise session, watch a good kid movie, if her parents allow, there's really good internet sites with games for little kids: Disney.com; etc.

  3. I work at a school and the first thing you should make is a schedule and explain it to her. Try to stick to it. here are some things that you can do.

    1) Have many coloring books, plain white paper with colors and not marker. You should have all this sitting at an area and is not to be removed from there like the kitchen table.

    2) Find a website that you can go on and print out connect the dots and you can also find websites that have color puzzles.

    3) Go to the library. You can find so many things. You can check audio books that are for her age, & have her turn the pages on the book when the you hear "ping" so she won't get bored. Check one out for everyday.

    4) Watch some videos that she may have already or you can check them out at the library or even at blockbuster. Have her draw a picture of her favorite part of the movie and have her explain it to you. Keep  folders with all her work and have her put them in the correct folder.

    5) Have her go out in the backyard and play. If you have a digital camera let her take picture outside and have her draw each picture she took and make a story out of it.

    6)  Let her be your helper ( make a special hat for her and let her wear it everytime she will be helping you). Have her help you cook. She can mix things for you like cake mix, or when making JELLO. Also make it fun when cleaning.

    7) Most important take some time to help her with simple Math. Teach her how to add number maybe only up to to the number ten. Later teach her how to subtract. Explain to her how she can use her fingers.

    8) Practice the ABC's and how to sound them out. Teach her how to spell small words ( cat, dog, no, yes, the) & how to spell her first and last name.

Hope you can use some of these tips and Good Luck.

  4. Dont just stick her in front of the TV play lots and lots of games.  Bring some stuff and play dress up, get child safe makeup and put that on her and let her put it on you (make sure its OK with the parents first)she will get a kick out of that.  Make up games and stories and let her be the main character, let her color and draw pictures of her family to give to them.  The kids seem to love that stuff.

  5. Bring a cookie mix, sprinkles, and assorted frosting to her house, and be chefs for a day. You'll have lots of fun mixing, pouring, and decorating. Then, make sure you wrap most of them up to take home so she doesn't make herself sick eating them. Other than that, I always have a series of the fun 10 minute activities, and I spread them out during the day, and I fill them in with the boring stuff. Watching TV, video games. Then when her parents come home and ask her what did you do? She's going to remember all the interesting things you did and not the TV watching. Then, even though you didn't spend the whole time playing with her, the parents think you did and the kids remember that you did.

  6. ew no offense CJ but dont IM him or email.

try playing games, watching videos, doing easy crafts, if you can drive take her places to play like the park, just make sure you watch her like a hawk there.
