Babysitters,How much do you charge an hour,nothing ridiculous.....

I babysit like every weekend, but depending on the persons income i usualy get paid around $3.50 to $4

I have a 17 year old babysitter and I pay her 10/hr under the table

I pay my mom $20.00/day while I work and it's usually an 8 hr shift. Now if i want to party on weekends, I pay 40 for the night!!

This is why I only let family members keep my kids. lol

I know when I was a teen (late 80's & early 90's) I'd give much cheaper rates to family friends. Plus I NEVER EVER told them what I charged. I was a teen and just wanted money so I'd let them tell me what they'd pay.

Looking back I did get ripped off at times by some people. But I learned a lot because I had the experience and wasn't a nervous wreck when I had my own kids.

$10-$15 an hour...but I am also 21, have taken early childhood classes, CPR certified and very experienced.

hehe....6.50 is a bit low these days. Most babysitters we know charge between 8-9.00 per hour.

How much you can charge depends on your area and your experience. I started babysitting at 14, and charged $5 and hour. As I gained more experience (workshops, daycare job, college classes, etc), I began to charge more. I currently charge 12.50 an hour as a nanny, and $10-12 as a babysitter. My experience includes workshops, college credits, years of experience with children newborn through 12, etc.

Check the going rate in your area for babysitting. $10 an hour is not ridiculous in my area, but in others it would be. Call other sitters, check craigslist(and possibly e-mail other sitters and ask how much they charge, etc.

I babysit full time when school is not in session and charge $25 per day for the first child and $5 for each aditional child.   I figure a full day is 8 hours.
