Bacalhau to break to the front of the pack in the Grade A1 The Race Sponsorship A1 525 Semi-final
Bacalhau will compete against Short Grass, Cavansheath Bob, Ballinclare Meg, Barrack Patsy, Oakfront Aga in the Grade A1 The Race Sponsorship A1 525 Semi-final at Shelbourne Park on 26th April, 2012.
The son of Magical Captain, out of Mercury Paula, will compete with the chance of 8 to 13 to win the prize of €100 over 525 yards.
Trained by Muldowney, the hound ran most of his races at Shelbourne Park since his career started on 5th November, 2010, which he sealed with a victory over, Takeshis Castle, by a landslide of 12 lengths over 525 yards.
The hound performed well in 2011, as he landed three victories in the season, but the start to 2012 was not impressive.
The hound that was whelped on 1st September, 2008, competed in the Grade A1 The Healthcare Transport Services A1 525 at Shelbourne Park on 18th April, 2012.
He completed the race in 29.14 seconds, whereas winner, Mays Milan, completed the course in 28.66 seconds.
Today, he will break out of trap number 5 with the hope of securing a victory.
Short Grass will enter today’s event with a shot of 9 to 4, and will break from trap 1.
The son of Kiowa Sweet Trey, out of Express Mist, has the same benefit as Bacalhau, which is the familiarity with the track.
He has raced here for most of his career with the exception of a few races, which took place on other venues.
Trained by Gilbert, the hound ran a solo on 28th March, 2012, where he successfully completed the track of 350 yards in 19.12 seconds.
Whelped on 1st May, 2009, the hound has real potential to develop with more practice and experience.
He finished as a runner-up in the Grade A1 The Healthcare Transport Services A1 525, where he fell 5 ½ lengths behind the winner, Mays Milan.
It is expected that, Bacalhau, will emerge victorious from this race, but Short Grass may give him a serious run for his money.
With such a talented line-up, it is difficult to say who will take the race.
