Bacary Sagna content with Arsenal’s draw away to Newcastle United – Premier League Update
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bacary-Sagna-c7148 has gone on to admit that he is more than content with picking up just one point in the opening day of fixtures. The defender admitted that irrelevant of how the game was looked at, it saw Arsenal
come back from an away game with one point in hand.
Arsenal dominated the game for ninety minutes, but failed to really make a breakthrough in front of goal. Every time the Gunners got into the Newcastle area, they would play one or two stray passes and that would kill off their chance of scoring a goal.
However, the game is more than likely going to be remembered for the confrontation between Gervinho and Joey Barton, with the two having a go at each other. What was quite interesting about the confrontation was the fact that only http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 was shown a red
card, while Barton was shown a yellow despite him instigating the encounter.
Nonetheless, Sagna seems to be looking past the incident and was more happy to just pick up one point.
When talking about the game, Sagna is quoted to have said:
“I think it was very important to start the season with this kind of game"
The player then admitted that the Gunners were quite consistent during the game and that their defence was rather sharp during the game.
"We were very consistent throughout and I think we were all defensively aware, from the forward players to the back four.”
He then went on to admit that despite the minor setbacks that took place during the game, the Gunners still managed to show their spirit, which was going to help them throughout their season. Sagna then ended by admitting that he would like to play with
teh same spirit and determination for the rest of the season.
“Even if we had setbacks during the game we fought hard until the end, and we have to keep showing that kind of spirit if we want to win things.
“This is how we want to play all season, and it was a good start.”
Arsenal did go on to show a real fighting spirit during the course of the game. The team was constantly looking to attack Newcastle, but just lacked that extra edge in front of the oppositions goal.
Nonetheless, should the Gunners be able to get their act together in the coming weeks, they will be able to really take the game to their opponents and pick up the wins which could help them secure a title at the end of the season.
