  1. You may also want to check with some one at uni which is the best pathway follow. Linguistics helps you to understand the structure of language and so on, it can assist you with learning other languages etc. It is basically a scientific study of language. I know my uni offers courses for students interested in drama and signing so it pays to look around.

  2. First, are you going to want to pursue your singing professionally? If so, a  music degree should be your priority. If you want a second major or a minor, take something that interests you. Linguistics or Literature either one would work.

I took a double major in Art and English, and a minor in Education. I studied linguistics and literature both as part of my English degree. You might contact the college or university you are interested in attending to see what is offered.
