  1. um... the bridal party is the people accompanying the bride on the day of the wedding, like her mother and bridesmaids, the dad.

a bachelorette do is a knees up before the wedding.

so you do have both, in fact.

  2. you don't have to do either if you don't want, but usually yes they have both. your family will host the bridal shower and your bridesmaids will host the baclorette party

  3. What is referred to as the "bridal party" or 'wedding party" is the group of people who actually play a role in the wedding and usually include the bride's bridesmaids and the groom's groomsmen( the people who stand beside them on the alter), the maid/matron of honor and the best man, as well as the flower girl(s), ringbearer, and the parents of the bride and groom.

The "bachelorette party" is usually held a week or two before the actual wedding for the bride (the week of is never advised, since there is usually lots of heavy partying and drinking done and the bride does NOT want to have a hangover!) and (sometimes a surprise) is thrown by her bridesmaids. just in case you're wondering, the rehearsal dinner is given the night of the  wedding rehearsal (usually night or two before the wedding) and is given as a thank-you dinner to the bridal party from the bride and groom.
