Back Problems.. what is it exactly?

here's what i'm feeling:

with my back straight, it hurts on the right side.. i can't twist my body left or right. i have to move my entire body if someone says look over here.

i can't walk, well just barely. when i do walk its like a shootin pain from my lower right back, to the top of my back.

someone said pinched nerve, but i don't think its that serious?

should i just put some heat on it?

if its nerve you need ice. if its muscle you need heat. you will find out real quick which one it is when you put one or the other on it.
