Back handsprings?

I have been doing back handsprings at my tumbling course for about 3 months now. I've been doing it on the mats and floor very well( without a spot), but when I am at home I've been nervous to do it outside in the grass. I need to be confident by cheerleading season. What should I do?

  1. if you're not comfortable with doing it, then you shouldn't try. you don't want to hurt your self. if you're nervous..talk to your trainer and see if you can get a few more lessons so that you can feel more comfortable. you could also buy a mat for hom so IF you do try... it'll be ALOT safer if you do fall

  2. I was the same way. I could do everything at class, but at home I was scared to do it. You just need to keep practicing and practicing. Stretch out a lot and do some small things, like cartwheels, round-offs, etc. Then try and do your back flips. It will help! All you need is practice! Good Luck!

  3. Its normal at first.

Every now and then i get scared to do it on cement.

Just believe in ur self and do it :)

  4. ahh i remeber the backhandspring

if you have it on the floor then you ca easily do it on the grass.i have a trampoline which helped ALOT!

but if you are going to do it on the grass have someone stand their even if they arent spotting you, it gives you a false sense of security.

once you do it on the grass by yourself you wont be able to stop.

i also built up my confidence by always looking forward to the next big thing, like the back tuck <3

some comppettion with someone on your team wouldnt hurt either

  5. go to the beach and do it.

or get spotted on the grass.

  6. Just have your mum or a friend spot you in your backyard, by placing their hand under your back, applying no pressure just to support you if you fall.

Slowly you will feel more confident, and be able to do them on your own.

  7. get professional help so you don't hurt yourself

  8. What you can do is buy a mat or use a mat at home to practice on outside. If you are too scared to do one even with  mat, you can try to get one of your guardians or siblings to spot you. When I do tumbling, i use my trampoline, I always feel safer on it and it feels softer and less hard. I currently do not do gymnastics, so i try to be as safe as I can.

If this doesn't help you, you can always go on http://youtube.com and look up videos like........how to back handsprings at home....or somthing like that. I am sure you would be able to find a video to help you.

Once you find that thing thing or video that will help you, try to SLOWLY become more confident in yourself, and tell your spotter to just be with you just incase...well after a while.
