Question:

Back-jump-setting? Any setters, help me out!

Well it sounds unorthodox, I know. But lately, I've needed to set a lot of outside balls. Thing is, I'm a libero, so I can't cross the ten-foot line. So my setter suggested me to jump-back set, airing over the line. It's probably mostly for show, but I need any tips you have on jump-back setting, for accuracy and hang-time. And I'd rather not try planting my feet, I don't know why, but I hate setting on the ground. Thanks.

  1. I agree with the bump set but you could just set outsides on the ground from behind the attack line

  2. if you're going to back-set from around the ten-foot line make sure to set off your right shoulder instead of straight back (your setter should be able to show you how to do that if you don't know what i mean), or if you're just trying to set the ball (not trying to be fancy) then you could just face the right-side hitter and set it

  3. What are you talking about...? You can cross the 10 foot..You can't set past the 10 foot, but you can bump it.. So instead of trying a hard-*** back-set, just bumpset it.
