Back-links from other websites are showing as zero?

I have been doing quite a bit of work over the last 2 weeks writing articles and submitting my wife's website to directories but when I check out my back-links they show as zero - even though I can see my website listed in several directories!?

The method I used to check my back-links were to type my domain name.com into Google search i.e mrspalmreader.com

and I also used this website http://www.marketleap.com/

I'm confused I know the website is relatively new, but still it would be nice to know where one stands...

My website http://www.mrspalmreader.com/

any ideas?

  1. Leslie is absolutely correct. And to be quite honest, 2 weeks of work on a brand new website, is not going to give you many measurable results.

It really takes a diligent effort in PageRank building (building backlinks if you'd rather), article and press release writing, and website optimization to see the results.

Just keep doing what you're doing and it will pay off. The worst thing you can do for your site is give up because Google doesn't show you any results. Keep in mind that any results that the search engines provide you at any given moment aren't in real time. You could have a fairly good PageRank as you read this, it just won't show until Googles next iteration or "dance."

  2. It would take a week or two to track your back

  3. Google is often the LAST search engine to recognize back links. And sometimes they will show fewer than Yahoo or MSN. Also Google "groups" links by type a little more densely than Yahoo or MSN. So if you've got a lot of links on directories it might be showing as 3 or 10 when it's really 25 or 30. But Googles grouping them up.

But first off make sure that you are typing the links search correctly:

    links: www.yoursite.com

Make sure there is no http and that there's a space between the colon  and the www.

Check your links on MSN or Yahoo though because you might be surprised what you find. Then give Google another month to recognize your links.
