Back pain: Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey says DT Torell Troup out for season – NFL News
Buffalo Bills head coach Thomas Chandler Gailey Jr., also called Chan Gailey, has confirmed end of another season for defensive tackle Torell Troup due to a lingering back problem that has already affected most part of his brief professional league career.
Chan expressed his sympathies for the player given he has been struggling to recover from pain stemmed from a back operation about eight months but insisted it was important to his longer run prospects that he recovers from the problem fully before reporting
back to the squad.
The coach said:
"I told him today when we visited that I was proud of him for the way he fought to get back, but he just could not make it. We wanted to let him not worry about it anymore and go get well. We will give him a run next year.”
The good news for the player is that the team has placed him on the injured reserve (IR) list instead of releasing him straightaway and as reflective in the coach’s remarks he can still have another opportunity of playing for the Bills.
It nevertheless is an unfortunate development for his career, which is very brief so far but marred with consistent injury problems.
The player had a surgery for an unknown back problem about eight months ago and since then has been through the recovery phase. He returned to the side last month working on his fitness individually. Lately, he told the team that he was still having pain
in his back, which prompted his placement on the IR.
Troup was selected by the Bills in the second round of the 2010 draft. He at the time of his signing looked to be very promising young football player and the team had boasted his great talent and potential.
Although the Bills are not made to take the blame for his sufferings, it is unfortunate for them also that the player has never really shown his skills so far.
The player must also be pleased that the team has shown to be patient with him in spite of the lingering health and fitness issues. It is hoped he recovers and gets ready timely for the next season.
