Back-to-school-no tax?

I live in Connecticut and i know that Aug. 17-23 is no tax for clothing and shoes, but when is it no tax for school supplies here, in Connecticut

  1. There isn't one.  Only clothing and footwear are included in the CT tax holiday.


  2. I'm not from Connecticut, but I looked it up and it doesn't look like your state offers tax-free shopping on school supplies.

    "Connecticut: Clothing and footwear sold for less than $300 are exempt from sales and use tax from August 17-23, 2008. The holiday exemption replaces the regular exemption for clothing and footwear costing less than $50, which remains in effect for all other periods, and it does not apply to athletic or protective clothing and footwear, jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets and watches."

    Other states specifically state instructional material and school supplies as well, so I really think Connecticut is just offering a tax break on clothes that week.
