Well, last year I was a prep. I wore hollister and stuff, but I didn't really like it. I was just pretending to. This year, I wanna go with the sk8tr look. For the first day, Im wearin skinny jeans, some high-top vans, and a band shirt. Do u think this is bad to change my style right now? Will people think Im weird. I know my friends wont mind, but I don't want ppl from last year looking at me weird and all.

  1. i dont mean this is in a mean way at all, but why define yourself to a style?  you're just asking for people to steretype you! just wear what you WANT to wear.  who cares if its preppy, or skater, or emo, or girly?  no one can be defined in one word, nor can you be defined by one style.

  2. mmk. so this is coming from a former "goth/emo"...

first of all, labels in themselves are stupid. hence why i used quotations around above labels forced upon me in my sophomore and junior years in high school.

second, NEVER change a look totally in one day or even a week. stretch it out over a course of about three months MINIMUM.

third, why demean yourself by dressing a certain way for a year or more if you didn't like it. try going to a normal clothing store (Walmart, Kohl's, target, etc.) and looking around. if you find a few things that you LIKE (regardless of the "style") go to the fitting room and try them out. mix and match skinny jeans and vans with really "girly" shirts like lacy Cami underneath a semi-tight polo shirt.

i do this a lot and in my second year as a junior in high school, it's working well. i often get compliments about it and even though half of my clothes are thrift-store bought, people try and copy me. *smiles*

if you really want to lower yourself to using labels, try going to Kohl's and buying stuff from the Avril Lavigne line. She's supposedly this "punk/skater" girl. *rolls eyes*

  3. u shouldnt change styles or act like someone ur not. if i were u, i would just dress the way u want and what feels comfortable to u.but whatever u do good luck.

    i hope i helped.

  4. Do what you like.

    I actually kind of got annoyed last year- b/c I actually do skate and all;and have had the look for awhile;

Suddenly, all the preppy girls from the year before turned "skater" really to only get guys. It was annoying.

  5. well my opinion for the first day of school outfit is what you think might be YOUR style not other ppls style. so i think that its best to espress YOUR style and stick with it!!! if tank tank tops and bell-bottom jeans are your style, keep it!!!!! just rock it, asecerize, and make it be you look!!!!

  6. Some people might think you're a poser. It would have been smarter to start changing your style closer to the end of the school year last year. It would have been good if it had been gradual. It may be a shock to others and it may take time for them to adjust but it should be okay. Just be who you are. Don't worry about what people say. Be what you wanna be.

  7. 1 casset tapes rock!

2 Skaters usually don't care what ppl think. Just do whatever you want. Obviously the hollister kids arent your friends if theyre gonna judge you by what you wear.  dont buy that expensive c**p just to impress all those stupid barbie doll wannabe's

  8. Hmm. Interesting.

I didn't know one had to commit to a style at the beginning of the year and stick to it! Everyone at my school dresses quite eclectically without any real rhyme or reason to it. I think you're taking fashion a bit too seriously!

Wear whatever you think makes you look best, and what you're comfortable with.

  9. Last year, I was preppy too.  I didn't get caught up in the Hollister (etc.) c**p, but I was pretty close.  But then, I met this one friend.  And my style really changed to emo-ish, punk.  So, I think you'll be fine.  Because, it's your life, and like said above ^^, who cares what people think?

    Good luck.

  10. No offense, but this is defiantly wrong! When completely changing your style, you wanna take baby steps. If you just show up to school on your first day in a completely different style, everyone will think you're a poser (I know, immature word, but stick with me here!).

Try this, how about you wear the skinny jeans, high-top vans, and a Hollister T-Shirt? Keep doing similar wardrobe changes like this for a little, and slowly work your way up! Such as adding a...I dunno...A stud belt? And then maybe a band T-Shirt?

Of course, I'm just giving advice. Go with what you feel! :)

  11. who cares what people think? i mean seriously if they are gonna worry about what YOU look like they need to get a life.

    just don't be a poser.

  12. Who cares what people think.

  13. Personally I think you should wear Roxy as a smooth transition. Check out their website http://www.roxy.com/home/index.jsp. Their stuff is really cute and is a cross between preppy and beach//skater and it's awesome. Some are a little more one style than others but they do have quite a few skater type shoes as well. Hope this helps!

  14. People won't care all that much, just be yourself. And if I were you..I would never write Sk8r like that again.

  15. How about you wear what you like and are comfortable in? Pretending to be something you're not is a big turn off.

  16. people will think you're a poser

  17. well, people will call you a poser if you just plunge straight into the skater look. and also, in my experience, only preps use inside jokes. but heres my advice:on the first day just wear some of your skater clothes. you want to ease into the style not just switch from one style straight to another. also, learn how to skate. and listen to rock ,music

  18. Who cares? Wear what you like, not what you think people will like.
