Question:

Back when gas was a 1.50 and you got 20 miles to a gallon ...now gas is 3.60 a gallon but you get 35 miles?

  1. Take the price of gas per gallon divided by your miles per gallon.

    In your examples:  7.5 cents per miles (old price and 20 mpg) verses 10.3 cents per mile (current price and 35 mpg)

    Armed with this information you can calculate your gasoline  costs for any distance your are driving.

    150 mile round trip to visit family will run you $15.45 at 35 mpg.
