Question:

Backdoor Strategy?

Folks,

Please help us settle this argument. I am of the opinion that Americans would not elect a non-white candidate as their President and that the popularity of Obama will just serve the Rebublicans interest. If Obama is the Democrats choice and defeat Hillary, then McCain would clearly win the election. If Hillary runs, McCain would most likely lose the election.

Here are my reasons for feeling this way:

1) Kerry -white as they come- was criticised for being a Catholic (i.e. different from 'most' of 'us').

2) Mitt -whiter than Kerry- not electable because he is Mormon.

Do you believe Obama is whiter than Kerry?

My friend disagrees with me.

What do you think?

  1. Obama is whiter than most white people.  He was raised by his white mother and white grandparents and went to elitist white private schools.

Even if he wasn't whiter than sour cream, Americans are not racist and the white guilt folks need to wake up and realize that.  Most white people in America do not care about race at all.  It's a completely fabricated issue, and we're all tired of being guilty-until-proven-innocent of being racist.

  2. Only back door strategy I have heard of  is when Bill was selling pardons (over 140) out the back door of the white house for millions of dollars.  Who cares who is white, black brown , yellow or purple?  Not only did Hillary start the racist thing with her comment about MLK, then Obama started his racist thing.  Then OLD BILL  out doing his thing, looking like some old washed up alcoholic.  The Clinton's  started it, now they have many thinking  like racist,  typical dirty rotten tactic of the Clinton's, and Obama is just as bad,  he uses advisors of the Clinton too.   Racist my as*,   it is just a political tactic to divide and conquer, then Obama and Hillary will end up on the same ticket in November.  Makes me want to vomit, accusing people of being racist  because of Obama or because Hillary is a woman.  Totally dumb and stupid.  People with any sense would not vote for either of them, just because of this mess both Hillary, Bill and Obama has created on purpose.

  3. just give it some time, the question will resolve itself.

I think that you are making poor choices in phrasing your debate with your friend. There are better reasons why Kerry and Romney did not make the grade. You may be oversimplifying the issues.

  4. I think Obama is a muslim plant. go to louis farakan of the largest muslim base in the us and he admits obama has been well groomed,,, America will not be the same country.

all of our fredoms of religion an speach could be affected.

and i do not prefer muslims rideing on bicycles going door to door looking for recruits. look what they are doing in afghanistan and iraq, They are cutting the non muslims heads off

  5. You should win the argument although I think diluting your reasoning with religion is off-point to the question, which is race.

I personally don't care about race but there are many voters who do.

In my opinion, it will be Hillary vs McCain and Hillary will win.

Darned shame us conservatives don't have a candidate.  I'm not looking foreward to having a Leninist as a President.

  6. your argument is flawed. our country is called a "melting pot" for a reason. people are voting because of issues not relating to race. don't play the rest of us for stupid. we're intellectual and intelligent enough to analyze all the issues at hand and choose a candidate that best fits our own beliefs as to who can carry out their policies the best. if you've looked at the numbers according to who has voted in the primaries you will see that more democrats voted than republicans. Obama vs. McCain and Clinton vs. McCain... in both situations more democrats came out to vote than did republicans. in some states you could even put McCain voters and Huckabee voters or McCain voters and Romney voters together and the numbers were still lower than Obama alone or Clinton alone. you're buying into the race card argument that the Clinton's have put out there and the media has now spun it that way as well. open your eyes, think for yoruself for once. this election has nothing to do with race, religion or gender. this election is about getting out of the situation we ar e in with the Bush administration. GET IT STRAIGHT!

  7. I would vote for anyone who could get us out of the mess we are in. I don't really care what color a person is. It's not like he's ghetto or anything and maybe, just maybe if he wins, black people will stop blaming "The MAN" for everything and thinking that America still owes them something for all eternity. You can't get any higher than a descendant of former slaves becoming the leader of the free world now can you?

  8. I disagree with your assumption that the election will be decided based on color. Most Americans are beyond that and after 7 years of Bush have decided it is important they time to decide on the best candidate and vote for that person, black, white, male or female. I do agree the Republicans will try to manipulate the democratic vote so their own candidate will have a better chance of winning. Regardless of which democrat is nominated though I am afraid the Republicans will take the oval office again. When we get to the general elections you do not have to vote your party and I, as a democrat, can not vote for Obama  and in no way would vote for Clinton. I am not crazy about seeing McCain in office either. I am hoping a wild card will show up on the independent ticket so I will have a better choice. The New York mayor, Romney, Edwards, some one, anyone but those who have been a player in the last 7 plus years of our government!

  9. I hate racism.

If you know anything about biology, the gene pool is enhanced by adding to it.  The gene pool is damaged by limiting new incoming influences.

It's one of the reasons brothers and sisters and cousins are not supposed to make babies together - you start getting birth defects.

Members of groups who are targeted by racists (and sexists and all other ists) have made wonderful contributions to the world.

I'm hoping we are outgrowing these incredible ignorant and backward attitudes.

  10. Were it an issue of Socialism vs. Other Things race would not play an issue. A person could critcise Obama on being to far to right on crime. The main issue for all  candidates should be Global Warming and how to stop it. Obama  could receive criticism if a combination between help for Society and Solar Power to end Global Warming was not on the agenda.
