He wasn't moving, but I didn't see him because he was parked where there weren't supposed any cars behind me, in the fire lane. Its probably my fault cause I was moving...

Just wondering what to expect with my insurance rate, etc.

  1. was your fault or you would have seen and not much if anything will happen

  2. That will depend on your age. If you are under 18, it will go up a whole lot. If you are over 18, its only going to go up slightly. It will go up no matter what because the insurance company unfortunately will not take into account the fire lane part.

  3. go up alittle in most cases

  4. Just because he was illegally parked does not mean that you were not legally liable for the damages you caused.  The insurance adjuster may place some minimal comparative negligence on him, and in some states, even a slight amount of negligence on one party bars them from recovery.

Anyway, if your insurance pays out, your rates may go up a bit.  It depends on your insurance company.  Some offer "first accident forgiveness" or do not increase rates unless them pay out more than $1k.
