Backing will not come off

Question

My watch is running slow, which jewelers are telling me is a problem with the gears (either need to be cleaned or replaced) however I can't get the backing off of my watch. I have had three watch repair/jewelers try to get the backing off, and the lip is flush to the back of the watch, so there is no space for them to get their tool. Any ideas?
