Backlash expected as Dwyane Wade and LeBron James gear up for game-2 against the Chicago Bulls
The Miami Heat are known by their Big Three. However, keen followers of the game know that among the Big Three, there are only two, who really dominate - LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Wade and James are players, who are used to thrive individually for most of their careers. However, this year, they have learned to share the ball and play together, for the greater good of their team.
Chris Bosh is undeniably an important part, but these are the two that keep the Heat moving. They run the offence and handle the defence. And when the game is on the line, Miami look for the dynamic duo of Wade and LeBron for deliverance.
The playoffs have been no different, with LeBron and Wade continuously leading the Heat to a win after win. The story had been rosy so far, but that changed in game-1 at the United Center. Fresh from slaying the Celtic demon that had haunted both players for so long, Wade and LeBron were expected to crush the Chicago Bulls with their usual swagger.
It didn’t pan out like that. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James were nowhere to be seen at the end of the game as Chicago romped to a win. The Bulls had made plans for the duo and they executed them to perfection. They silenced the two All-Stars on the night, so much so that after averaging around 25 each in the post season, they combined for just 30 in the game. To add insult to injury, Taj Gibson served up a facial on Wade that has been brought up, one time too many for Dwayne’s liking.
Wade recently communicated through the social website Twitter that he got dunked on in a Nerf hoop by his son. Zaire proceeded to scream "Gibson.", and then started giving basketball tips to his dad.
"I told him I think I've done alright so far," Wade said
He did not seem pleased.
Constantly reminded about their non performance in game-1, LeBron James meted out two words in a seething manner,
“"One game,"
He was seconded by Dwyane.
James has been targeted a lot by the critics after the game. It’s frustrating for the player who thought just a fortnight ago that he had finally proved himself, after beating the mighty Boston Celtics, but finds himself facing all the same questions once again.
"You see some of the mistakes you made and just come back with a better plan," LeBron said.
"We will. I'm not worried about ourselves, D-Wade and myself."
The question which arises here is, will Chicago be ready to face the backlash that is definitely going to come from the two stars of Miami. They have a track record of bouncing back in the playoffs. The Celtics managed to hold LeBron to 15 points once, only for him to return in the next game and erupt with 35 along with 14 rebounds. Similarly, after Wade had 14 against the Philadelphia 76ers, he responded with a 32 point, 10 rebound and 8 assist performance.
Chicago beware.
