Backlight on Samsung SGH D-407 won't turn off?

Today, I turned off my Samsung D-407 cellphone. An hour later, I turned it back on, but I noticed something strange. No matter what, the backlight would not turn off, and I cannot adjust the brightness either. Even when I shut the phone, the backlight remains on.

The only thing I think may have caused this was that it was raining when I had the phone in my pocket, and perhaps some liquid got into the circuitry or something. But it was not raining that hard, nor did the phone get noticeably wet.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and what I can do about this?

if after shut backlight still on,may b its cause by rain,if its new one u just buy then return it
