I'm heading into university for the first time and I don't know what to bring. My courses are Bio, Chem, Calculus, Physics, and English. From the first four, I have labs and a tutorial along with classes to attend. My question is should I have a backpack and laptop bag? Or should I find a BIG Laptop so i can fit my binder in it. Take in mind I will take the public transit home. Also, If I will try to bring e-books (books on CDs) rather than bringing books along with me.

  1. yeah you should bring a backpack, if you have books on CD that seems like it would be much easier

  2. Why do you need to take your laptop to class?

    I say just backpack.

  3. A big JanSport seems like a good way to go. Mine can be my best friend when I'm carrying everything.

  4. just get a backpack that fits your laptop and binder in it.  good luck with school...that's a lot of heavy coursework for any semester, especially your first

  5. Heeyy!!! I go for a backpack!!! i meeaan, clearly ur gonna have lots of "hard" courses! and the backpack is the best way to keep all your stuff together, because sometimes you're gonna have to carry more stuff, even if u get e-books, not all books come like that so, use the backpack, its comfy, n helps a lot... Because laptop bags are smaller n when u need to bring more stuff they become inefficient!

    Good luck!

  6. If you carry two books per day then you should definitely consider a messenger bag.  They are usually built to carry lap-tops.  One complaint someone might make of these messenger bags is that they might look like "man-purses".  However if you are a trendy male then this shouldnt really bother you.  Some messenger bags are downright ugly.  But then there are some that are very attractive and useful.  By the way if you are a smart shopper and dont mind spending extra money for useful features then look into water-proof zippers.  They are zippers that are water-proofed so that water doesnt leak inside.  If you have to walk around in rainy weather and you have a lap-top you should definitely consider this.

Any pack that goes on your back usually looks ugly unless you are going hiking.  I prefer these messenger bags.  Target even sells a few nice ones that are durable and sleak (but not water-proof).

  7. Depending on your school, the department building that you will spend the most time in (for your major) probably will have lockers you can sign for. I would just have a backpack. You can store what you don't immediately need in a locker.
