I am 13 and on 18 holes I usually shoot in the mid 70's but when I hit chips or approach shots I land them right at the hole and they roll almost off the greens (My course has really fast greens) I hit way down on the ball hitting the ball before the ground and take big divots but I cant get any bite on my approach shots. Any suggestions?

  1. take out a 8 or 7 iron and use a putting stroke for an effective bump and run

  2. try de-lofting a lofted club like a sand wedge, put the ball way in your stance - off your right heel (for a right hander).  You might also try a softer ball.

  3. off the cuff?   Learn to land the ball short of the hole.  even in the fringe to take some speed off.  Back spin is the result of good ball contact with a descending swing.   Clean sharp grooves on your wedges is also required.   Also,  just an off the cuff thing......there are some pin  placements you should just not fire at.

  4. Try using the Callaway bite balls. Im about a 10 handicap and I find it tough to spin it too. I think it just takes a lot of practice and being a good ball striker

  5. play bump and run. if high shots next to the pin don't work you need to play it short and have it roll. The safest shot is the one that rolls.
