I have an external hard drive (Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive, USB , 160GB) and I want to back up my entire iTunes library on it from my computer (Windows Xp.) I need a reliable and quick way to do this (And don't reply its easier to backup using CD/DVD because I've tried it and don't like it.) And after how do you restore the backup when you need it.

  1. I purchased an external hard drive like Maxtor for about 69.00 bucks and hold all my old music, movies, etc. on the external drive until I want them again.  This way my main hard drive is free and Maxtor is really easy to use just plug and and add the software.

  2. all you have to do is go to itunes music folder and then right click and select copy, then click on your external hard drive and then right click on it and paste. This will copy all the music onto the external hard drive. I have done this many times before. If you have to reformat your computer at any time then all your music will be on the external hard drive sfor safe keeping. To add to your itunes again just click on add a folder and select the folder on your external drive and all will be restored no problem.
