Why would a bacterial population living in an unrestricted environment grow much faster than an eagle population?

The generation time of most bacteria is about 30 minutes while the eagle is about 2 years. That means in the time it takes eagles to reproduce once, bacteria have done so 35,000 times.

1) because of generation time...an eagle takes weeks to months to make a few new chicks..bacteria can do it in minutes to hours

2) time to adulthood to reproduce....the chicks then need to grow old enough to have chicks of their own
