Bad, weird dreams lately?

I have no idea what causes them, but they are super weird. Like I have a fear of whales and I had a dream that they were chasing me. And I just have dreams where people break in and take over the world etc. What can I do to stop them?? Thanks a ton <3

  1. I can relate to that! I get really weird, out-of-the-ordinary dreams too! Sometimes I even get my dreams mixed up with reality! You may get weird dreams because when you think about something, it gets stored in your mind, and your mind plays tricks on you as you sleep. Think of it this way: you think in your sleep, but because you are not awake, you start to see things that you think are ridiculous. I guess you can try thinking about other things and maybe you can start having more normal dreams. Good luck!

  2. If I woke up with a bad dream, my mother always told me to turn over on my other side and think of something pleasant.

Another thing that might help is imagining something about the scary thing, but change it so YOU are the strong one and stop the whales or whatever, or you could try to set up a fantasy in which you turn around the meaning of it, for instance, the whales are chasing you because they like you and want to give you a ride or something. Spend a bit of time this way before you go to bed and maybe also have something else that is pleasant to meditate on after you lay your head on the pillow.

Some people have even managed to sort of manage their dreams and turn them around--like you might, right inside the dream, become able to get just conscious enough to know it is a dream and hold up your hand and make the whales go away or something. I know it sounds crazy, but I have heard of people doing it and a few times, I have succeeded in doing it.

There may be some stresses in your life that help bring on the bad dreams after something in your life that day acts as a trigger. In that case, you need to do something to disarm them. There are various ways to do that, but one of them could be to have a bit of not too strenuous exercise, and then read something that is pleasant and that you really can get into for a while before sleeping.

I know how awful it is to wake up in the night with your heart pounding and still feel afraid until you can make yourself move, even though you know it is just a dream. Praying can help with that, too.

Always remember that the dreams NEVER mean that something bad is going to happen to you. They are not occult predictions. Some scientists think that they occur while the brain is processing all sorts of things that have occurred during the preceding day, and there is some evidence that we have to dream in order to maintain our mental health. It's just too bad that some dreams are scary...on the other hand, they don't do us real damage.

I hope some of this can help you.

  3. Then just dont sleep or stay and take your computer in your room and if you need sleep that sucks for you
