Champagne does not exactly age as some other wines. The 'ordinary' non vintage champagne can only be kept for about five years before it goes 'bad'. The rule is that it can be stored for as many years as it has aged in the cellar of the champagne house. So usually five but good vintage champagne for up to about ten years. A 1993 bottle is simply too old to drink.
