Bad Checks??

What would happen if a person wrote a bad check and it bounced what would happen to the person that wrote it?

  2. Depends.  You get a charge from your bank.  If the person you wrote it to demands, then you pay the fees he incurred as well.

    If you don't pay, then legal action can be taken.

    Different states have different penalties.  The fines can range from small to large-I've heard they can be as large as $50,000!  You could also go to jail-as long as 50 years!  Some states simply require paying the check, some set costs/fees, and attendance at a check writing class.  Failure to attend or pay can result in larger fines and jail time.

  3. It is going to cost you a lot of extra money.  The bank will charge you a few and more that likely charge you a fee for everyday you are in the negative.  The place or person you wrote the check to also has the right to charge you a fee and turn you over to the proper authorities if you don't pay the check and the fee.
