Bad Customer Service?

Ok so today my family and I went to dinner at a chinese buffet restaurant. The waitor was nice at first and then we were the last ones there in that seat section after awhile and we didn't want to feel hurried so we took our time. There were other customers in different sections but me and my family were the only people left in our section.

When we got our bill it was a bit overpriced for the service and I still had the bill folder opened in my hand and still with the 2 receipts in it and I was still thinking about what to write for the tip and the waitor comes back and asks if we're ready and if he could take that bill folder and I said nicely "Can you wait please?" and he nodded "ok". And he came back shortly and started cleaning up our table while we were still on it talking and getting ready to go. Read on below. ...

  1. Anything that's taken from your hands without asking is rude in general. Gently or not, he should have asked if you were ready to give it up. I would have left a quarter and never choose to dine there again.

  2. As far as I'm concerened it is ALWAYS alright to NOT tip bad service. That's what it is....a tip for GOOD service. If it has become part of their wages then fine call it "your share of the staff paycheck" and put it onthe bill. As long as it remains optional, then it's up to you what you think they deserve. I hate to feel I have to give a certain amount just because thats what you do. It seems now it is expected to give 15% for any old service.....and more if it was good. 20 years ago, it was 10-12 ifth e service was good and still is that way in most of the world. (where waiting staff are just as poorly paid as USA)

  3. It was rude of the waiter.  But you should have given a normal tip and then mentioned the rudeness to the manager.  He would want to know so he can correct it.

  4. Yes, I think he was.

but on the flip side... If it was a crowded night.... The longer you sit at their table the more money they lose.  Servers barely make anything.  Any money they make is solely on tips.

Sucks you had a bad experience.  If he is like that with everyone he won't be there for long or won't make any money.

  5. You should have tipped him atleast $6 on that bill.

I am not fan of tipping a lot of money all the time as in it being expected but I also tip real dollars.

They need to churn tables to make money, you might be sitting at your leisure but thats someone watching their nightly paycheck go to h**l.
