Bad Day Care?

I have been taking my daughter to a day care for about 3 months now and yesterday they called and said she was sick at 11:30. I went and picked her up and the Administrator ran up to me and said that she had got paint on her clothes, she said the daycare would replace them. she acted very nervous and awkward which made me nervous. After I took a look at her pants when I got home I realized that my daughter did not have childrens paint on her pants. She is two years old and at her day care they had let her play with a permenant stain. I called the Administrator and asked her what kind of paint it was and she said it was by Sun Art and that it was non-toxic. I still felt uneasy about it and asked to see the bottle. On the bottle it said nothing about being non-toxic. It said it was permenant. She had lied to me! Then the next day I went to pick up her belongings and I discovered they had been letting all of the children share sippy cups!!! I was so mad I don't know what to do about this!

  1. Well, everything you said about the situation is a total "red ligth". First of all, it is not permitted any kind of permanent paint at any "good" childcare center. Safety has to be the first thing for you to look in  a place like that. It seems  that the center has a serious problems managing safety. Take your kid out, and report it.

  2. Well I work at a daycare currently... and they shouldn’t allow that kind of thing to happen (that’s just not tolerated).. your best thing to do I would say is take her out of that day care, report them to child protective services I want to say that it is, and then do research and try and find a new day-care.

  3. It doesw sound like bad practice and against health and safety standards...if the setting is registered with ofsted (you can find out on website) then you can complain to OFSTED as they are the inspectors of registered settings...and they have power to close it down---www.ofsted.gov.uk

Also you could contact local education authority as they may do health and safety/hygiene checks dependson the type of setting and its connection.

I would speak to the manager and tell her of your experiences and that you are not happy. She may not know what is happening and could put a stop to it. But I personally would take my child out of any childcare I was not 100% happy with-eso if they had lied to me! Good Luck x

  4. Call the health department.

To have them check into it and then if they find anything get a lawyer and taking them to court!!!!

ASK your daughter how they treat her there? and not throw things out there so she can agree just let her draw it down or tell you. just sit back and listen to what she says or draws.

I know this because a issue between my children and a 12 years old and when I had to deal with DHR or the State. that is something they used to get the truth and down to the bottom of things.

  5. Take her out immediately. Even, if they threaten to charge you for the next two weeks (you are generally required to give a two week notice). There is some way that you can get out of paying this, I'm sure.

If you live in the states, contact your local department of jobs and family services. they are who licenses child cares and you can report the center. The agency is required to visit the child care within seven days to check it out.

  6. Take her out of that day care. and do you research to find a better one.

  7. STOP SENDING HER THERE!  You should also ask them if she put any of that paint in her mouth & then no matter what they say get her checked out by a doctor ..explain to him what went on at the daycare.....you also need to call social services about this day care ..they will check it out . This needs to be delt with right away before kids get hurt!
